chrissy roast chicken


300ml sparkling water/7-up/sprite
sliced potatoes & carrots (optional)

Note: if you are using sparkling water, add 2 tbsp of sugar. Not necessary if you are using 7-up/sprite

Chicken Marinade
1 whole chicken
1 piece of lemon (squeezed to juice)
2 tsp garlic salt
2 tsp black pepper
1.5 tbsp oyster sauce
2 cloves minced garlic
2 minced onions

*mix all of the above in a bowl and rub it all over the chicken. rest the chicken in marinade in fridge for at least 3 hours.

  1. put chicken in the pan with the skin facing downwards, add in sparkling water/7-up/sprite
  2. cook on highest temperature (griller) for 30 min
  3. add in cut potatoes at the side of the chicken (if you want)
  4. after 30 min, flip the chicken and cook for another 30 min
  5. check if there is sufficient sauce/juice in the pan to avoid burning the chicken
  6. add carrots in 10 min before the chicken is done

Roast Chicken Gravy (additional)

1 tbsp butter
1.5 tbsp plain flour
1 cup water
1 cube chicken stock
0.5 cup milk
1tbsp soy sauce
0.25 tsp ground black pepper
0.24 tsp garlic powder

  1. melt the butter in a frying pan
  2. add the plain flour in and mix well
  3. add in the rest of the ingredients and stir continuously until the mixture is thick and creamy
