150g cake flour
⅔ tsp baking powder
1 egg
180ml milk (fresh)
40g caster sugar

  1. sift flour and baking powder into a large mixing bowl
  2. add caster sugar into the mix
  3. add in the milk and egg, mix well using a hand whisk
  4. transfer batter to a pouring cup – this is your taiyaki batter
  5. heat up the taiyaki pan, grease pan with some oil so that the batter does not stick
  6. heat over small fire – pour batter till half filled (it will expand), add in desired fillings (optional)
  7. flip the pan to stick the two halves together
  8. check for doneness – done once it is golden brown
